Crispy Garlic Lumpia Chips (Print View)

Crunchy lumpia strips with garlic oil, lightly salted and seasoned for snacking.

# Components:

→ Lumpia Wrapper

01 - 10 lumpia (spring roll) wrappers

→ Garlic & Oil

02 - 3 tablespoons neutral oil (canola or vegetable)
03 - 4 large garlic cloves, minced
04 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Garnish (optional)

06 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or chives

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for 3 minutes.
02 - Stack the lumpia wrappers and cut into thin strips or triangles approximately 1.2 inches wide.
03 - Heat the oil gently in a small saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until golden and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
04 - Place sliced wrappers in a large bowl, drizzle with garlic-infused oil, season with sea salt and black pepper, then toss gently to coat evenly.
05 - Place coated wrappers in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Fry in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
06 - Air-fry for 5 to 7 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until chips are golden brown and crisp.
07 - Remove chips and cool on a wire rack. Repeat the frying process with remaining wrappers.
08 - Optionally garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes less than half an hour from start to finish, which is perfect when you need a quick snack that actually tastes homemade.
  • The garlic flavor gets into every crispy bite without being overpowering, and you can adjust the seasoning however you like.
  • You probably already have these ingredients sitting in your pantry, so there is no special shopping trip required.
02 -
  • Do not skip letting the garlic oil cool slightly before tossing it with the wrappers, because if it is too hot the wrappers will get soggy instead of crispy.
  • Shaking the basket halfway through is not optional, the chips on the bottom will burn if you just leave them sitting there.
  • If your wrappers are sticking together, separate them gently before slicing or they will tear and cook unevenly.
03 -
  • Use kitchen scissors instead of a knife to slice the wrappers, it is faster and gives you more control over the size and shape.
  • If your air fryer runs hot, lower the temperature to 170°C and add a minute or two to the cook time to avoid burning the edges.
  • Always taste one chip before you season the whole batch, because some wrappers are saltier than others and you might need less salt than you think.
